OneDrive - Students

OneDrive is provided to the College as part of our Office365 service. This service provides you with 1TB of cloud storage, with the ability to upload, share and access documents between and over a range of internet connected devices. This makes it easier to collaborate on documents with your peers.

Accessing OneDrive - In College/Remote Access?

In College you will have a drive mapping of Z: which is your link to OneDrive.  Please be aware that the drive mapping will show roughly 30 seconds after logging in.

Accessing OneDrive via OneDrive App (Windows 10)

Launch the OneDrive app from the Start Menu - when prompted enter your college email address and click 'Sign In'
On the Signin Page enter your network password, put a check in the "Remember Credentials" box and click 'Ok'
Click Next
Click 'Sync all files and folders in OneDrive - Birkenhead Sixth Form College' and also in 'Files not in a folder' and click Next

Anything Important I should know?

Confidential or sensitive data should not be stored in OneDrive, as it stores your files in the cloud.
This service is not backed up the same as the college network. If you accidently delete a document it will be held in the OneDrive Recycle Bin for upto 3 weeks. So if a document is really important make sure you have a copy saved elsewhere.
If you've got a Windows Account you may already have a OneDrive area, aso Microsoft will use a generic name for the one we provide which is 'OneDrive for Business' or  you may see 'OneDrive for Students' or 'OneDrive - Birkenhead Sixth Form College', these are all the same service.

Anything else?

You will notice that the space shown isnt 1TB, it mirrors the space on the local C drive because its how Microsoft designed the technology to work (its called WebDav - https://support.microsoft.com/nl-nl/help/2386902/webdav-mapped-drive-reports-incorrect-drive-capacity).
